12 Owls Ad Agency cc was conceptualised in 2002.The first hard copy directory publication was distributed in March 2003 in Lenasia.The business is a 100% female black owned enterprise.The idea come about as a result of other hard copy business directories in Lenasia either being printed in black and white or in spot colours at that point in time.A gap was noticed in terms of publishing a full gloss , full colour directory.The 12 Owls Lenasia Directory  , a full colour , full gloss in a magazine style yearly directory  displaying full colour pictures of the advertisers products /logos and being true to the adage “A picture is worth a thousand words “ thereby creating a different dynamic to hard copy advertising print medium was born.This very first issue was a 48 pager.

 

Since then the 12 Owls Lenasia Directory has expanded to a 212 page directory cover to cover .The directory concept has also expanded to selected Soweto areas with the 12 Owls Lenzweto Business Directory is in its 7th year of publication with further expansion in  other  areas of Soweto  envisioned.A digital platform has also been created in terms of our on –line 12 Owls Lenasia Directory which can be facilitated via electronic medium.

Why 12 Owls ? 

 

The number 12 signifies the working  number of months in the year. Owls signifies the numerous nights worked that is the nature of this business - noting the fact that this bird hunts and is up during the night , second , the Owl is able to turn its head almost 360 degrees  making it alert and looking for the opportunities.
